Beating the Tax Man
At 30 days since we were given notice of the tax bill for the Dixon house, I had my formal hearing before the tax board this morning. Well, it worked out well. Instead of the $16K reduction I was hoping to receive I only got $7K off. Either way, it's a victory.
During the hearing, the TCAD representative was stating his case and said, "this owner has had approximately the save value on her house for 3 years and has not bothered to protest the taxes before, why now?"
The chairman of the review board then thumbed through the packet I submitted, saw our marriage license and said, "it looks like the owner got a man around the house, and he took a closer look at your appraisal and got tired of you guys trying to pull this bullshit."
I simply nodded.
