Life and Death of an American Car

The trunk on Ktwn's car quit latching, so today it was off to the junkyard.     Two hours, two salvage yards and $25 later I was back in business.

I'd forgotten how much I enjoy going to places like this.   I suppose some would be depressed by 1/4 acre of dead metal and plastic.    But all I see are people.  The people who drove these car off the lot when they were brand new.  The last person who wrecked or sold it before it came to be here.   The people who engineered, designed and built the cars and the now the people who come in with tools to extract even more miles and life from these rusting parts.    I don't see it as a graveyard, but more of a coral of hopes and technology.

The best part of the whole thing is that now her trunk shuts and Ktwn's pretty happy with me.

didn't you always kinda want nunchucks
